Off to Californ-i-a!

Tonight, after Paul gets off work, we head off to California to go house hunting. Because the market is so crazy low right now, many of the houses we've been watching and been interested in have been sold, including the one we really like near FYI Airport in Fresno. Oh well! Nothing like an answer to a prayer like taking the decision away! Paul was really bummed, but I just figured it wasn't the house for us. I hope we can find it! I know there's a house out there for us. Problem is, we're looking in such a large area! We've really been searching from Fresno all the way down to Visalia. We've decided Tulare is just too far, and Sanger and Reedley are farther off the freeway than I'd like, so that leaves Visalia, Selma, and Fresno basically. We've found quite a few that we're interested in so hopefully when we go look at them in person one will feel like home.

Although I'm certainly not looking forward to the 30 hours + driving there and back, we both felt like this was the right thing to do, so I'm hoping that's a good sign and we'll be successful, and it's not just one of those obedience tests! lol. At the same time, I'm still a little excited to take the trip. I think it's mostly just to get out for a few days! Last year while we were here we drove around a lot, and went driving in Montana, and Wyoming, and took a few trips to UT but this year, with gas prices so ridiculously high, we've made an effort to be better about the money we spend, so I feel like I haven't been anywhere for a LONG time. The trip I took to CA in April seems like FOREVER ago! At least I got to fly for that one though. =)

I had a doctor appointment yesterday, and a full ultrasound. As hard as it was, I stayed firm with my decision to be surprised. It didn't help that the tech kept saying "Are you sure?" It was easy enough before it came up, but then after she said "oh, I just saw it now though" it was a lot more difficult to keep from asking questions!

After taking all the baby's measurements it appears that I am just one of the lucky ones to have small babies. They've already changed my due date forward 6 days. So, originally my due date was November 2nd. It's now November 8th, which would mean that when I went in yesterday I was 20 weeks and 3 days pregnant (after they changed it. Before I would've been 21 weeks and 2 days). She said the baby was measuring at 19 weeks and 3 days, which means that I'm kind of TWO weeks behind, and not just one. So, looks like I have slightly longer pregnancies, AND just small babies, and I'm okay with that.

So, tonight we start the journey of the beginning of the next phase of our lives. Wish us luck! And safety!

I think there's light at the end of the tunnel...!

So, for about the last 3 weeks it's been cloudy and rainy. I think I'm going to go crazy! Just when it started to get really nice, and the sun came out and it was summery it goes back to this, but not just for a day or two, oh no! The weather here is never quick to change, it had to be yucky for 3 whole weeks! Ugh. Oh well, what can you do. It's actually supposed to get back into the 80's in a few days! Woohoo.

So. graduation is coming up. It's only 5 weeks from this coming Friday. Wow, huh? It seems like it's all gone super fast, and I thought it would, but wow. He's supposed to start at Matt on July 28th. We're almost there! We've been getting into moving mode mentally and trying to figure out what we're going to do when we get back to CA. Will we rent an apartment so that we don't feel rushed into buying a house, or will we squat? Well, there's a house we really like in Fresno, and the price is right! We sent Arlin over to look at it today, and he said it looks really well kept up from the outside. We sent up an appointment for him with the realtor and he's going to do a walk through on Thursday. I'm excited to see what he has to say. We've asked him to take some pictures, and notes about what looks good, and what kind of work it looks like it woul need. He said the neighborhood is nice, and pretty quiet, and looks like people really take care of their yards. We're pretty excited about this house. It's over near the Fresno Airport. Maybe this is the house for us! Who knows? We have some major life choices to make coming up here pretty soon, and it's going to take some serious thought and prayer. Wish us luck! It'd be so awesome if we could get into a house before the next baby comes. The possibilities are exciting. It feels good to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
