Twins?? TWINS!!

Okay so while you can't see most of either baby you can clearly see the two different heads! And You can even see a hand of foot or two on the one on the right. They're really far apart, which is why I guess fraternal. We shall see!

Wow. This is completely surreal. Where to start? Okay, I guess I will start with the Dr. appointment where I found out.

First, let me start off by saying, Paul and I wanted to keep this secret for awhile. So, if you're just hearing about it and are feeling left out, don't! Pretty much everyone is knowing at about the same time except for a few family members. And if you found out about the twins on FB, don't take it personal that you weren't called because we called only each set of parents then announced to everyone else. When you have the number of siblings we both have with news this big it can get really time consuming to call everyone individually. So, since almost everyone is on FB, we considered it an equal opportunity announcement.

Okay, so, two weeks ago I had my first pre-natal exam. Basically that was the pregnancy confirmation appointment. They scheduled me another for 2 weeks when I would have my first ultrasound and make sure the baby was okay, and all that jazz. When they gave me the options 1:30 is as late as they would do. I picked the 1:30 hoping MAYBE if Paul really wanted to he could possibly finish his route if he wanted to be there for this ultrasound. Sometimes he finishes up that early, sometimes not until after 3:00 or 3:30. But, I figured I'd try to give him the chance.

I figured this would be standard first ultrasound "there's your baby, there's the heartbeat" kind of stuff so when Paul called yesterday and asked me if I wanted him to be there I said "it's up to you. I'd like you to be, but whatever." Cause we've both done this enough times now that it's almost like whatever. He told me he was done for the day and we'd meet over there. I always like it when he comes. I do not consider it a coincidence that he had a short schedule for the day. That could've only been God's hand!

At the office on the table the doc gets up the pictures of the baby on the abdominal device and says "yep, there's the baby." ...after looking around a little more she says "Let me just make sure there's only one." Which, I've heard before so I was like "yeah, like that would happen."

She Continues to look then says "Baby has a good heartbeat," to which I reply "Oh good, for some reason I've been more freaked out about this one." (I'd read stories about people who had gone in at 7 weeks and there was already no heartbeat) And the doc says "Could that be because there's two?"

I didn't really process this at first and I kept talking, and so she repeated herself. And then it started.

I said, "Nooo," thinking she's making a joke, and she says "No, seriously, there's two." And the back and forth starts.

"No way. You're not serious."

"Yeah, I'm serious about this. I was mostly joking at first, but I'm not anymore."

She shows me the monitor and says "Two babies, right? One here and one here? You're seeing this too right?" She wanted to make sure so she switched instruments while saying "Now wait, I'm not totally sure yet. It might not be. Let me just check with the wand."

Oh, it was totally twins. I turned to Paul and said "I'll bet you're glad you came now huh!" Which of course, he was! And let me tell you, I'm so glad he came. That would've been awful to have to tell him about that. He got to see it for himself, better than I for most of the time because I couldn't see the monitor most of the time.

We are both really excited. Maybe a touch overwhelmed, but very excited. Being that we have a hard time with twins and twins will require so much more stuff when they come in March, we have decided we will most likely find out the genders when we can. We would be very hard pressed to come up with 4 different names. My bet is, boy and a girl. I will have 4 kids 4 and younger, and 3 under 18 months. Oy vey!!

I will be seeing a specialist either later this week or next week I think who will be answering a lot of questions, so when I know those answers, I will share them with you! Also, I'm kind of needing maternity clothes. I never really bought them for the other two, minus a few things, but it was okay cause I never got really big, but I'm sure that will not be the case this time, so if you know anyone that has ones they're not using or are getting rid of please let me know! It would be most helpful!

Oh you left out the part when she said it was the first twin case she diagnosed in 5 years!

Congratulations again girlie. If you need somewhere to put Keith and Alexa when Thing 1 and Thing 2 arrive, you're more than welcome to leave them with us. I know that's still a long way down the road, but just saying.

I went through my maternity clothes this morning and took out anything I was pretty sure wouldn't fit over your boobs. There's a fair amount. I'll get them to you.

Ooh, Thing 1 and Thing 2...I'll have to think about that! lol

Thanks for the help! Are you not planning on needing them anytime soon? I mean, I know you guys aren't doing anything preventative.

Eh, even if I got pregnant RIGHT NOW I wouldn't need them for at least another three or four months, but I'm not counting on that. No signs of returning fertility yet.

Yes, I've always planned on Thing 1 and Thing 2 onesis and little red PJs if I had twins. (Yes, despite all my vociferous protesting, I've always thought I would have some, and that I'd enjoy them after I survived the first 6-10 months! I do like being a twin. . .) But I do know where to get some Suessgear if you want some!! :)

We are soooo excited!

Congrats!!! Congrats!! One for each:-)!

God does have quite the sense of humor!

I can see you already have offers of Keith and Alexa having a place to go, but our home is open as well. I know far time off....but let us know what the needs are as they arise, and we will address any of them that we can.

Walmart over here had some clearance maternity clothes, let me know what size you think you would be, and I can see if they still have them. They had some jeans and pants. We definitely are not on the end of having any maternity clothes in our closets. (Us needing maternity clothes would be a definite miracle and proof that God has a big fat sense of humor)!

I too like the Thing 1 and 2 outfit ideas. How fun!!!

hello...you already have my congrats, so let me offer maternity clothes - in that you know i can't use them again, they might as well go to someone who can. i'll have to dig around but i'm sure there's a tub somewhere. bb

Wow. That first ultrasound is always the scariest, praying to not hear what you did. If there's ever a woman tough enough to handle it though, it's you!
